POLICY REVAMP TO BOOST LOW-COST HOUSING

Haryana government has revamped its policy to give impetus to housing

for the economically weaker sections under which every developer of a

licensed colony is bound to earmark plots for the EWS, to be

transferred to  Haryana Housing Board. for the construction of

dwelling units.

In order to ensure that people belonging to weaker sections of

society, especially those below poverty line, get shelter, various

state governments have introduced policies for this purpose. Under the

new policy of Haryana government, the licensed developer is required

to reserve 20 percent of the total plots varying from 50 square meters

to 125 square meters for the EWS category. These plots are to be

transferred to Haryana Housing Board within six months of the approval

of zoning plan. The Housing Board after constructing units on these

plots, in accordance with the layout/zoning plan and allot these to

eligible beneficiaries in a transparent manner. The licensed developer

is also required to complete the development works pertaining to road,

power, water, sewerage  within one year from the approval of zoning

plan or environment clearance whichever is later.  Licensed developers

of group housing societies are required to construct 15 percent of

total number of flats in the project for EWS beneficiaries.
